- August, 2003. Reedley suggest a sister city agreement
- October 1, 2003. Tongyeong receives a proposal of sister city agreement from the Consulate of the Republic of South Korea in San Francisco sent by the mayor of Reedley
- January 13, 2004. Mayor of Reedley invites the mayor of Tongyeong to Reedley
- March 12, 2004. Mayor of Tongyeong visits Reedley and discusses plans for intercity exchanges
